Academy of Burlesque

Set the stage on fire! Go from talented to TNT! Build a larger-than-life Burlesque Persona with Tigger! and take your shows and your stage identity to the next level. Tigger! is a recognized pioneer of the current burlesque scene but has been an actor all his life, “acting like a stripper” for 20 years. Using his degree in theatre, his experience teaching college acting, and over 30 years on the stage (both Shakespeare & Shimmy), he employs his theatrical training & perspective to break down what makes a burlesque performer stand out from the herd.

Whatever you do in front of any kind of an audience, You are an Actor. Learn techniques and tips to make the most of what you’ve got.

Women in the Golden Age of Burlesque refined teasing to an art– the art of strip-tease! This workshop includes historical examples of Burlesque legends and exercises to practice the skills they developed.

In this introductory class, students are empowered to explore and discover their own inner tease-artiste in a safe and friendly environment. Gloves, boas, and hand-fans are provided, no dancing or dance skill required. Learn the who and what of the how and why!

Taught by Academy Instructors, including Miss Indigo Blue, The Shanghai Pearl, Inga Ingenue, and more. Advance Registration Required, class size is limited.

1 hour class, every Tuesday and Thursday! Class is taught by Indigo Blue and substitutes Inga Ingenue when Indigo is away. $12/class drop in, $60 for 6 class card avail at class. Oddfellows Building: West Hall - Room opens at 12:15, closes at 1:45.

Wear comfortable clothing (tank top & shorts, leotard & tights, yoga pants & tshirt), bare feet are fine, no heels necessary. Bring a Yoga Mat if needed for sit-ups. Class open to all levels, oriented towards beginning dancers who want a fun workout! Vintage music, fun bump & grind movements, a great starter class!

Seattle’s Academy of Burlesque instructor Ruby Mimosa teaches this fun and foxy workout to learn the basics of the bump & grind, shimmy & shake! This class is designed for all levels and includes a warm-up, steps that are put together in a small combination, and lots of practice! Ever wanted to learn the beautiful art of bellydance?  Need a little exercise to get rid of  those holiday calories?  Come learn the basics to advanced moves with Fuchsia Foxx!!!  Class occurs in Oddfellows Building: West Hall and begins January 10th and runs to April 24th.  The full class fee is $115, and you can pay the $65 deposit for the 8-week class card on Brown Paper Tickets.
